An Exotic Travel Destination in the Caribbean

Last year we decided to travel an exotic destination, Barbados, in December and thought it would be an ideal place to have a fashion shoot. We had been fans of the Reebok Caribbean Workout T.V. show that is brought to viewers from the beaches of Barbados. Once on the island, we realized that it was no accident that so many exotic travel and cruise ships make Barbados one of their destinations.

This program sold us on spending Christmas away from North America's cold, snowy Joyeux Noel and Santa's reindeer. We were happy to trade-in the snow for sunshine, Bajan dialect and caroling from many different Church Choirs everyday, along with a "Caribbean Christmas" done in Calypso (the local music of Bajans and many Caribbean peoples).

America's top model would increase its viewers if they would consider taking the show on the road and visit this very beautiful Caribbean island in the sun. Fashion photographers would have a field day on the beautiful, white sandy beaches with a scene like Bathsheba as their backdrop.

We took our digital camera and a DELL laptop so we could download each day's photographs and free up our USB flash memory card for the next day's expedition. We were amazed to find that someone had placed a North American Christmas tree in the heart of Bridgetown in all that heat and it was beautifully lit under the starry night skies.

Every January, the Barbados Jazz Festival is host to many famous, worldwide musicians, such as Roberta Flack, Winton Marseilles to name just two of many celebrities that make the trip every year.

Several visitors choose the island as the place to celebrate their nuptials, celebrate anniversaries and honeymoon. We witnessed one of these weddings on the beach as the sun was setting. The beautiful, crimson sun was at the couple's back with swirls of color across the evening skies at it set on the island's west coast of Holetown.
